Newspaper Clippings

We don’t have many clippings relating to our Manchester Branch, but these three have been donated by Ivor Crook. If you have any clippings relating to the Manchester Branch or Alexandra Park we’d be very pleased to hear from you.

The first is about Harry Hall, a founder member of the branch who later moved to South Africa to work in a Botanical Garden there.

The second clipping is about a Branch Visit to Alexandra Park on the 11th June 1948. According to the Journal Branch Activites (NCSJ: Sept 1948) there were 103 members from Manchester and several local branches, with a point being made about the tropical weather.

This final article is about Mr. Andrews, the curator of Alexandra Park, who I assume took over when Harry Hall left for South Africa. This newspaper clipping (kindly donated by John Cox) is about the first anniversary of the society and their meeting in Alexandra Park
